TPS5430DDAR is a high-output-current, step-down (buck) DC-DC converter from Texas Instruments, featuring an integrated low-resistance, high-side N-channel MOSFET that delivers up to 3A continuous (4A peak) output current with efficiency as high as 95%. This device operates from a wide input voltage range of 5.5V to 36V, making it suitable for regulating a variety of power sources including 24V industrial buses and automotive battery systems. The output voltage is adjustable down to 1.22V with ±1.5% initial accuracy. The converter employs a fixed 500kHz switching frequency, allowing the use of small external filter components while minimizing output ripple. Key built-in features include a high-performance voltage error amplifier for tight regulation under transient conditions, an internal slow-start circuit to limit inrush current, and voltage feed-forward for improved line regulation and transient response. Using the EN pin, shutdown supply current is reduced to 15µA (typical). Comprehensive protection features include overcurrent limiting, overvoltage protection, undervoltage lockout (UVLO) that prevents start-up until the input reaches 5.5V, and thermal shutdown. To reduce design complexity and external component count, the feedback loop is internally compensated. Housed in a thermally enhanced 8-pin SO PowerPAD™ package (SOIC-8 with exposed pad), the TPS5430DDAR operates over a -40°C to +125°C junction temperature range.
